Crime Stoppers Victoria
Crime Stoppers Victoria has a long history of contributing to making Victoria a safer place for families and communities.
A registered charity and respected community organisation Crime Stoppers Victoria has been serving Victorians since 1987. The Crime Stoppers program has given members of the public the confidence to pick up the phone and assist police with important investigations.
The organisation’s commitment to maintaining the confidentiality of the person filing a report via the hotline or website is integral to the success of the program.
Crime Stoppers Victoria has also played a significant role supporting Australians in times of crisis, helping identify missing persons and gathering community intelligence in the aftermath of the Black Saturday bush fires and the Bali bombings.
Crime Stoppers Victoria works with research organisations, Victorian Government, Federal Government and Victoria Police, in developing and delivering crime detection campaigns, as well as prevention and education programs, in response to research that has identified a need for such campaigns and programs.
Worldwide Crime Stoppers is a unique program involving a partnership between the media, community and the police. The role and value of community intelligence is widely acknowledged, and continues to play a defining integral role in the future safety and security of communities and countries.
Help solve crimes such as ‘Little Pumpkin’
Every day members of the public can observe activity or events that relate to a crime. These observations and subsequent reports to Crime Stoppers have helped solve high profile crimes such as the abandonment of 3 year old Qian Xun Xue (‘Little Pumpkin’) at Southern Cross Station, Melbourne and the discovery of her mother’s murder in 2007, and ultimately the arrest of her father.
Crime Stoppers Victoria’s longstanding supporter, Motorola, and major media partners, Channel Nine and the Herald Sun, have played a significant role in the continued success of program. Please read about Our Partners.
We invite other businesses to partner with Crime Stoppers Victoria and invest in keeping our communities and families safe.
